Class Rating Instructor Single Engine

Become a CRI SE pilot instructor

With the CRI SE instructor rating, you become an instructor on all classes of single-engine aircraft for which you can justify a minimum of 30 hours flight experience as a captain.
This rating allows you to be an instructor on SEP aircraft, and also on Piper M600, Daher TBM 900 or Pilatus PC12.

Duration of training

Your training will be full-time and in pairs.


Your SE CRI training programme in detail

The training course consists of 2 stages: applied theory and flights.

Stage 1

Aircraft knowledge

Stage 2

Learning to instruct in the aircraft

Stage 1

Aircraft knowledge

You will make reports and follow theory lessons specific to the knowledge of the particular class of aircraft.

11 hours and 15 minutes of applied theory

Stage 2

Learning to instruct in the aircraft

The objective of this stage is to teach you the ability to instruct the main exercises specific to the aircraft class rating.

2 hours and 15 minutes of applied theory

3 hours of flight instruction on a single-engine aircraft


Validity and extension of your CRI SE instructor rating

The SE CRI qualification is valid 36 months starting from the day of issue.
It can be extended for a further 36 months by meeting 2 of the following 3 conditions:

(1) Justification of at least 50 hours of flight instruction experience during the last period of validity,

(2) Participation in an RSFI refresher seminar within the 12 months prior to expiry,

(3) Complete a theory and practical competency assessment (FCL.935) within 12 months prior to expiry.

After expiry, you must complete conditions 2 and 3
to renew the privileges of your CRI SE rating.
