The purpose of the Single Engine Pistons (SEP) class rating is to enable you to work as a pilot on the class of aircraft specified in the rating. This rating is valid for 24 months and at the end of validity, Astonfly can enable you to extend it.

Duration of training

Your single-engine pistons (SEP) class training programme in detail

The SEP course teaches you the specificities of flying single-engine piston aircraft, including engine failure in the field.

Minimum 1 hour of flight instruction on single-engine aircraft

Validity and extension of your SEP rating

The SEP qualification is valid 24 months starting from the day of issue. It can be extended for a further 24 months by passing an revalidation flight exam within 3 months prior to the expiry of validity or by justifying 12 hours of flight experience (including 6 hours as captain, 12 take-offs/landings, 1 hour of flight with an instructor) within the last 12 months before the validity expires.
Beyond that, you must complete an additional training course specific to the renewal of this qualification.
